Today we woke up bright and early as usual and showered to get ready for an eventful day. Pastor announced to us that we were going to be going Sea World! At first he tricked us into believing that we were going to get on a bus to go to some other exciting place, the first lie pastor has ever told! But then he told us the truth, and we headed on our way to Sea World. When we arrived at Sea World, we were free to do whatever we wanted in the park. There were shows, exhibits, and rides for us to enjoy. The best ride was Atlantis, but you sure did get soaked. We were catered lunch at Sea World and had an all you can eat buffet! Sea World was a blast and the shows were awesome. When getting back at the church, we were told that we had an hour to get “very fancy” for dinner. We had no idea where we were going, but we knew that it would be somewhere very nice. After an hour, we got in the vans, all dressed up and ready to go, and headed on our way. We jammed to music on the way there, as usual, and then arrived at our destination, a boat dock! We were going on a dinner cruise. All of us were so excited and thrilled to get onto the boat. Dinner was amazing, consisting of pizza, turkey, potato skins, and much more. We danced the night away, holding many dance competitions and sibling dance offs. My sister and I participated in that competition and boy, did we really dance hard! The night was so much fun, but it couldn’t have been possible without all the hard work that the staff put into it. Tonight we will all hopefully get a goodnights rest, because we sure have a long day ahead of us tomorrow. Goodnight everyone, see you tomorrow!
Yesterday we were woken again by Pastor Garman’s wonderful singing. We were all eager to find out how we were going to spend our final day here in San Diego! We then found out that we were going to Sea World for the morning and the afternoon. Everyone had fun spending time with each other, seeing all the animal shows, and riding all of the exciting rides. For lunch we had pavilion reserved just for us. We all pigged out at the buffet and played some very intense volleyball games. After we left Sea World we went back to the church and had one hour to dress up in our nicest clothes for our surprise evening. We drove to a dock to find that we were spending the evening on a ferry boat. All night we ate the amazing food and for desert, ice cream. Everyone started dancing and we even got to see fireworks. Back at the church we all went to sleep quickly and this morning we got up again to Pastor’s amazing voice. We packed up, had breakfast, and headed out. Now we are getting gas for the vans preparing for the final hours of this week long journey. This trip was amazing and I can tell you that it impacted everyone, kids and leaders. We all can’t wait for what we have coming up next year on the 2009 Summer Trip! :-)
So here we are, sitting in this 12 passenger van as we finish up the last few hours of this epic journey. As we wave goodbye to the beautiful overcast skies and the adorable houses lining the streets, we are already starting to get nostalgic. In fact, we’ve already started to write down every funny and or awkward moment we’ve experienced on this incredible trip. Between SeaWorld adventures, amazing worship experiences, and crazy boat parties, this trip has definitely been nothing short of awesome. Possibly one of the coolest parts of the whole trip was simply the fact that we stayed in the church that Pastor Garman’s dad founded. It was so cool to walk around the courtyard and see the big “Garman Hall” sign above us. We felt like we knew someone famous! The beach was also a blast. We walked on the cool sandy beach and even ventured onto the pier where we played tourist and gave into buying $4 frozen slushies. Hey, we were on vacation! And with all the fun we’ve had this year, we are already beyond excited for another epic journey next summer!
